Draconian and Roma Amor add up to the bill of DBE 3

18.01.2011

After six bands having been announced in just two weeks, DonisArt is now revealing the name of two additional groups that will take part in Dark Bombastic Evening 3, held in Alba Iulia (Romania).

Considered to be a reference band for the Doom Gothic Metal scene, Draconian is not showing off with the number of releases, despite their 17 years of existence. We are talking about only four studio CDs and, after more than three years, their new and much awaited work will soon be released at the Austrian label Napalm Records. With roots in the old Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Katatonia or the old Tristania, the Swedish sextet has an impressive fan base that stretches out throughout the world. Their explosive concerts enjoy the presence of fans from everywhere, their shows forever being a reason of joy and of reminisce, a gathering place for those embracing the mix of slow Doom Metal dominated by Anders’s growl vocals with the atmospheric Gothic Metal elements expressed through Lisa’s voce. The extended guitar solos remind us of Saturnus, Rapture, Shape of Despair or even Skepticism, while the bombastic interludes dominated by the keyboard frame a dream-like aura given to a refined musical class. The track "Death, Come Near Me” is considered as being one of the most beautiful Doom Metal tracks ever made.

Draconian are coming to Romania for the first time ever and we tend to believe that the Doom Metal fans of this band will travel to Alba Iulia in significant numbers in order to say hello and to have a chat with the six Nordic musicians. Also to be mentioned is that the artists are travelling exclusively for this event and, on the 19th of August, they will want to show us how to hold an exceptional performance in a country they long wanted to visit!

From Italy we have a spectacular duet coming, one that aims to recreate through their music the nostalgia and the atmosphere of the old Europe, dominated by waltzes, tangos and cabaret music. Roma Amor considers itself being a Neo Cabaret ‘n’ Folk band that has so far released two superb albums, their tracks being inspired by the Mediterranean folklore but also much more. The Jaques Brel cover, “Next” resonates perfectly with the Folk Noir and Dark Cabaret entwinement, dominated by a female voice that holds impressive low tonalities, singing in many different languages, together with guitars, accordion, mandolin and other traditional instruments. The rest of the tracks also keep true to the aroma of those romantic nights that we have only seen in the old black and white movies or we have heard of from stories told by our grandparents. On the night of the 20th of August, in Alba Iulia, we will inhale a little bit of the perfume of old Paris, Roma, Madrid… and, why not, of the Bucharest that once was.

Roma Amor comes to Romania for the first time ever, wanting to delight us with sounds anachronistic to the troubled times of today, but charming and delightful to those who find themselves resonating with vintage metaphors.
